OBJECTIVE
The project Up2HF is concerned with development of predictive methods for high frequency vibroacoustics of complex systems. Based on the observation that the main available theory, statistical energy analysis (SEA) encounters difficulties in theory and applications, LVA and LTDS respectively proposed two alternative theories, SMEDA and RADIOSITY, they develop for numerous years.

Up2HF 2
The project Up2HF federates efforts from both laboratories to demonstrate that the set of theories, SEA, SMEDA and RADIOSITY, constitutes a consistent theoretical corpus whose validity considerably enlarges the single SEA. The project Up2HF aims to develop a numerical platform including an integrated software solution for SEA, SMEDA and RADIOSITY; an offer of on-line training, summer school, and training offers by “la formation permanente” of ECL and INSA; and a structured offer of expertise intended to industrial actors. This platform, unique in international scientific and technical domains, will place LVA and LTDS in position of leadership in the field of high frequency vibroacoustics and will constitute a significative advantage to answer to industrial requests and national and international calls for proposal.

The industrial interest of Up2HF project is to fill up the lack of software solutions and expertise in high frequency vibroacoustics. If the finite element method satisfies the industrial request in the domain of low frequencies, they are most often destitute for high frequencies due to the lack of available softwares and through their lack of how-to. The project Up2HF will propose a joint solution to these two problems.

The societal interest is the reduction of noise and vibration annoyance imposed by a more and more restrictive regulation. Reducing noise levels, in public space (airport, cities, buildings…), in industrial spaces (engine rooms, industrial vehicles…) or in transportation (cars, trains, aircraft…) represent an important challenge in terms of public health.
